The Gorlin Syndrome Group is a UK based registered charity that provides a support network offering guidance and information to individuals with Gorlin Syndrome, their families and carers.

The group is organised by people with the condition and their families. We are a registered charity supported by a medical advisory panel.

Our aims are;

  • to offer guidance and information to individuals, their carer’s, family and friends with Gorlin syndrome
  • the advancement of the education of the medical profession and its implications for the family
  • to promote research into the causes, effects, treatment and management of Gorlin syndrome

Gorlin syndrome or Nevoid Basal Cell Carcinoma syndrome is a medical condition affecting many body systems and is caused by a fault in just one of the thousands of genes which humans possess.

We are looking for volunteers that are very passionate and compassionate helping others facing emotional challenges.

DETAILS

We hold an annual patient conference for patient, families and carers of individuals with Gorlin syndrome, and are looking for someone who has the passion and skills to work with the trustees, to help us organise and deliver our conference in Spring 2020.

Role summary:

  • Research: Develop and undertake a survey of members to identify unmet needs to form conference agenda
  • Event coordination: Develop and undertake a survey of members to identify unmet needs to form conference agenda
  • Coordinating and organizing meetings of Conference group
  • Administration: Coordinating and managing the administration around the event
  • Coordinate the communication of the conference
  • Managing timescales, project brief and deadlines
  • Co-ordinating venue and logistics for the event
  • Managing delegate booking process
  • Briefing speakers and staff involved in the event
  • Liaising with charity trustees and stakeholders to recruit speakers
  • Communication management: update and review our social media approaches and website: manage and develop the functionality of our communications with group members

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Required Role: Conference Coordinator volunteer

Working in conjunction with the charity trustees. There is no registered office, the trustees work from home or meet locally in the Manchester area.Working from home, and via Skype or face to face in local area. Travel expenses available. PLI with Zurich insurance.
