A fibroma is a solid benign lump on the ovary. Calcium can also build up on the ovary. Studies show that 20% – 25% of women with Gorlin syndrome have ovarian fibromas and/or calcification (a build up of calcium). They cause no problems unless they are large.
See your GP if you have persistent back ache, irregular periods, pelvic pain or discomfort. If your GP thinks you may have an ovarian cyst, you’ll probably be referred for an ultrasound scan. Surgical treatment to remove the fibroma may be needed if large.
