On behalf of Gorlin Syndrome Group we are providing everyone with the latest news from Pellepharm. This is about the Patidegib Topical Gel Phase III trial.
The trial dis not yield the expected results in preventing the growth of new BCC’s or reducing the number of surgical procedures needed to remove them. Fortunately, there were no safety issues with this topical treatment and we understand that some people had a very positive response to the medication.
What this means for now it that those who are already in the ‘open label extension’ study where they are using the gel for a year will continue with the product. Those who have not started this extension yet will wait to hear if this is possible.
Although the future of Pellepharm as a company is in doubt, there is a possibility that development of the Patidegib Topical Gel may continue. We will continue to keep close contact with all the individuals involved so that we can keep all up to date as things change. Any and all questions that trial participants might have should be directed the the Principal Investigator at their trial site in the UK.
Everyone in the Gorlin Syndrome Community is deeply grateful to all the people who gave up so much time to take part in the trial since the start of this study, particularly in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
